JOB TITLE:      School Receptionist

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal

 

SALARY:          Hourly

 

STATUS:          10 Month

 

SUMMARY: An employee in this class performs several duties to provide clerical assistance within a school or department. Detailed instructions are given and most tasks are routine and repetitive in nature. Minor problems may be solved by the employee; all others are referred to the supervisor. The employee in this position receives direct supervision.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Answers incoming calls
  • Working knowledge of office equipment
  • Thorough understanding of office management procedures
  • Word processing, filing, and distribution of information
  • Greet staff, parents, students, and visitors
  • Assists with reports for safety and employee accident or injury reports
  • Sorts incoming mail
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent or higher
  • Previous office experience preferred
  • Experience working with students preferred
  • Experience working with the public

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of general office practices
  • Proficient in keyboard skills
  • Skills in operating general office equipment
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to file information accurately
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and general public
  • Ability to use basic computer software programs (i.e. PowerSchool, Microsoft Office, Google, etc.)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds or more at times.
