Women's Tennis Coach 

 

SUMMARY: 

Under general supervision, assist the board in the fair and just discharge of its obligation to students and staff through performance of the Head Coach role over and beyond the duties of a classroom teacher. A high school tennis coach develops players' skills, strategy, and sportsmanship by planning practices, providing instruction, and managing team logistics while ensuring adherence to school, district and state policies.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Promotes the sport within the school.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the athletic policies by the entire coaching staff and athletes of the sports program.
  • Provides and promotes safe coaching mechanics, techniques and supervision.
  • Responsible for maintaining good public relations with parents, officials, Booster Clubs, volunteers and fans.
  • Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels.
  • Maintains discipline, addresses grievances as appropriate, and works to increase morale and cooperation.
  • Develops a program in compliance with Caswell County Schools Policies as well as the NCHSAA.
  • Assists the athletic director in scheduling, development of budget, administration of the athletics budget, and making travel arrangements, when necessary.
  • Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
  • Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant.
  • Gives constant attention to student athletes' grades and conduct.
  • Present at all practices and games.
  • Provides assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant.
  • Completes and submits proper paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries to the athletic director and school administration 
  • Organizes parents, coaches, players and guests for pre-season meetings.
  • Participates in the budgeting function with the Athletic Director by establishing requirements for the next season.
  • Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.
  • Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
  • Accountable for all equipment and/or collection of fees for any lost or unreturned equipment. Arranges for issuing, storing, and reconditioning of equipment and submits annual inventory and current records. Properly marks and identifies all equipment before issuing or storing.
  • Serves as an at-will employee
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director/Principal

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • As applicable, must meet requirements established by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the Caswell County Board of Education, and school administration.

  • Teacher license and employment as a teacher by the Caswell County Board of Education is preferred but not required.

  • Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.

     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess administrative and organizational skills in addition to a thorough knowledge of Caswell County Schools athletic policy and procedure as well as the North Carolina Administrative Code and Statutes
  • Must possess knoweldge and skills on the sport and it's components. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and listen.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds or more at times.
